You may have noticed a "(Beta)" in the title of the web site until now. I've finished all the pages, or at least gotten them to a certain point. I'll still continue to tweak things but for the most site the site is finished. I'm still looking for a little bit of help. Mainly a few people who are fairly knowledgeable about firmware options. As well as those who know a lot about WRT hardware. If you can help, e-mail me at pip@wrtrouters.com. I've added a few pages. Can you find them? :)

Hopefully you just didn't buy Linksys' WRT300N. That's because the vendors of Pre-N products have decided to cut the prices by 20%. By the end of the month, the price of the WRT300N will be $129, down from $149. MIMO and 802.11g products could also drop in price soon. Since a good chuck of our visitors are new to WRTs. I've been looking into ways to make it easier to them. I've added a "Router Search" to the site. It allows you to input the first four digits of your router serial number and learn some basic information about your router. A nifty little tool designed to make the site a little more user friendly. Try it out now. Click here. Comments (0) |

For those of you who ordered a FON router, they should arrive soon. I personally received mine today. It's just a normal WRT54GSv4 will some FON documentation included. I successfully flashed DD-WRT to mine with no problems. I'm writing a small guide about upgrading a FON router. Remember, if you do not sign up with FON, you will be billed $25 or $45.

Although I still wouldn't suggest getting a WRT54G version 5. If you have one, you are now in luck. Jeremy Collake has found a way to remove the VxWorks bootloader. This will allow you to upload third-party firmware. The upgrade is fairly easy to do and only has to be done once. They are currently working on getting the new WRT54GS models over to Linux. I've created a guide based on the author's instructions which should be easier to understand. I've put the link below. Guides .:. Upgrade to Linux from VxWorks Comments (0) |

Welcome to the new and improved WRT54G.net, WRTrouters.com. We decided it was time for a change. Time for a new look, new domain, and new content. We've still working on finishing the site. We're still considering this site in a beta (testing) stage. We hope to get everyone tweaked and everything finished by our launch date of July 10. So please excuse any pages that don't work. Our router pages are blank, some other content isn't finished yet. We're still looking for some help. If you know a little bit about WRTs and are willing to help out, please e-mail me at pip@wrtrouters.com. Enjoy the new site.

According to FCC documents, Linksys is about to release the WVC200, streaming web cam. It appears to be a huge improvement over it's older, WVC54G. The WVC200 features full pan, tilt, and zoom. It supports 802.11b/g and LAN. The video can be viewed from software or via a browser. It appears it only supports Internet Explorer. The included software lets you view up to 9 WVC200s, and includes motion-based recording. You can select the "Patrol" button which moves the camera over a preset area repeatly. The camera supports up to 640x480 at a 4000kbps bitrate. A price has yet to appear but similar cameras sell for $200-400. A great item for those worried about security, or those who want to check in on their cat.

Several companies, including Google had announced that will pledge $20 million to help the FON Technology. The companies goal is build a global Wi-fi network. All they have to do is update the firmware on their WRT54GL, WRT54Gv1-4, or WRT54GS. When one FON member comes into the range of another, they login and are given access. Non-FON Members (those who don't share their internet), will have to pay a small fee. Some of which will be given to the ISP of that wireless access point. Clearly, several legal issues exist with sharing your internet. The owner of FON hopes to use the backing of Google and come up with an agreement with ISPs. You can buy your own FON-enabled WRT54GL (already flashed with FON's firmware) for only $25.

Today, Linksys officially released the WRT300N. Which is considered a pre-802.11n product. Linksys claims it is four times the range and twelve times the speed of 802.11b. The design does not seem to blend with the older or newer model Linksys. The design is very interesting. The unit supports Draft 802.11n, 802.11g, and 802.11b wirelessly. There are no reports yet of actual transfer rates but they should be impressive. The router is coming to stores this week.
